Frequently Asked
Questions

-
Are the tours suitable for solo travellers?Yes! Our tours were actually made with the solo traveler in mind. We wanted to create an experience where individuals can come together and share in an amazing trip together. Our trips are made for people who want to get to know their fellow travelers.
-
What are the maximum sizes of the tours? Our tours are limited to only 12 travelers. We feel that small groups make us able to travel where the large groups can’t, as well as creating a personal feel. We want to travel as one group, and the small size makes that possible. We wanted to travel like we're travelling with a group of friends, not a group of tourists being shuffled around.
-
What are the accomodations like?As part of our commitment to sustainable travel – we try to use locally owned establishments as much as possible. Our accommodations are basic and functional. We feel our accommodations are the perfect balance of amenities and affordability. We also use hotels in the heart of each location so travelers can easily walk to attractions, as well as enjoy nightlife solo or with their new friends without worrying about getting back for the evening. For our Authentic Ireland tour we use hotels that are clean, comfortable, and always centrally located. They are a step above hostel, but are not luxury. For our Budget tours we use local hostels or hotels. They are always clean, safe, and centrally located.
-
Is there an age restriction? All of our tours require travelers to be at least 18 years of age. Our Authentic Ireland Tours are for all above 18, our Budget Tour is for guests 18-29 years of age at the time of travel.
-
Am I responsible for my luggage while on the trip?Yes – you should be able to easily maneuver your luggage. We won’t ask you to run an uphill marathon with your suitcase above your head with one arm behind your back, but we will be traveling on local transportation, using stairs, and walking through towns with cobblestones and uneaven surfaces. Local hotels may not have elevators, and you'll need to carry your bags. We recommend packing as light as possible, and using a backpack instead of a roller bag.
-
I have a dietary restriction (vegan, gluten free, etc.). Do I need to let you know?"If you have any dietary restrictions please let us know at the time of booking. This will let your tour leader know in advance, so they can do their best to include this on the trip.
-
Do travelers always eat together in the evenings? The short answer is “it’s up to you”, the longer answer is: that this varies depending on the group. Our trips were designed with the solo traveler in mind, so with this the tour leader will often plan a dinner location for each evening. If you want to dine with the group you can. If you prefer to try something else, that’s fine too.
-
What's the WiFi situation? All of the hotels have WiFi, as well as most restaurants and pubs. Trains and buses also have WiFi free of charge. We do encourage you to live in the moment, and put your devices away... after tagging yourself in on Instagram & Facebook of course.
-
Is there a single supplement? The tour price is based on 2 people sharing a room, so you'll be paired up with another traveler of the same gender. If you wish to have a single room, we can accommodate subject to availability. Single occupancy rooms are more expensive, so we do have to charge more for single room requests. The single supplement is around €550, and will vary on the time of year traveling. Single supplements are not a standard offering on our Backpacker Tour as we may be using hostels which do not have this availability. If you'd like to request a single supplement for the backpacker tour, please submit an inquiry at the time of booking, and we'll do our best to accommodate.
-
Do travelers have free time on the tour?Yes! We have balanced planned group activities with opportunities for you to explore at your own pace solo or with your new travel companions. Please check the itinerary page where the free time and activities are highlighted.
-
Are airport transfers included?Airport transfers are not included in the price; however there are several easy and inexpensive options available. Express Coach Cost of around €6 (each way), Free WiFi, and direct service. Leaving every 15 minutes. Stops at several locations in Dublin. Taxis will cost around €20-25 City Bus
-
What currency does Ireland use?Ireland uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but you may want to have cash on hand for smaller local establishments. You can easily use your ATM card while you’re here, but make sure you tell your bank where you are going in advance. The best conversion rates are usually withdrawing from a local ATM once you arrive in Ireland.
-
What is the outlet plug situation?Ireland uses the three pin plug just like the UK. The voltage is 240v. Most devices should specify if they are compatible. The plugs in Ireland are not the same as mainland Europe.
-
What is the cancellation policy?Over 90 Days from Departure – 85% refund 89-60 Days from Departure – 50% refund Less than 60 Days from Departure – 0% Once the trip has started, no refunds will be made under any circumstances for any unused sectors or sections. If the reason for cancellation is covered by your insurance policy, you may be able to make a claim under that policy, this is entirely between you and the insurer.
-
How much cash should I bring? We recommend bringing limited cash with you as ATM’s are available along the way. Many places take credit cards, and tap and pay is quite popular and easy. Setting this up on your phone can make things quick and simple at checkout. Make sure you alert your bank and card companies of your travel plans in advance to avoid any issues.
-
Are there any baggage restrictions?Due to the nature of the trips, we request that travelers are limited to 1 suitcase or backpack and 1 day pack. We'll be using local transportation, and you'll be responsible for your own luggage, so make sure you feel comfortable managing what you'll be bringing.
